Ancient traditional Sicilian biscuits, with a crumbly and crunchy consistency, enriched with almonds.

They were designed not to break the stringent religious dictates of Lent which were in force at one time, when it was forbidden to consume foods of animal origin such as milk and eggs, now permitted and present in the modern recipe.

We recommend pairing with liquored wines.
